Swords Manor FC. 25 Years a Making. Matt Downey and Gerry Wilson could not have envisaged that 25 years later the club would be still going strong. Before 7 and 9-a-side was introduced the club grew and fielded a maximum of eight teams and played its Home matches in St Finnian’s school and Newbridge Demesne, until it received its current pitches in the late 90’s in Swords Manor. The Club was successful in winning numerous league and Cups in the NDSL and a number of players represented the Club in Inter league and on Kennedy Cup teams. Great work during this time was being completed by Mario Kennedy, Padraigh Sheridan, Tom Cahill (RIP) and Phil Fitzpatrick (RIP), both taken early in life, and a philosophy of Football for all was developed within the Club, and is still the ethos today. Irish Senior ladies team) and Megan Lynch-Smith (Star of Peamount Utd League of Ireland Team) came through their schoolboy section. They have developed a youthful squad over the last number of years. In fact, on last last year’s squad the average age was 22. The dedication and hard work from both has seen the numbers grown to 60 adult players signed this year. It's worth noting that over 80% of these players have played Schoolboy soccer with the club. Schoolboy and Schoolgirl section driven by the hard work of Mick Kirwan, he works endlessly 24-7, James Keane, Eoin Sherlock and Killian Whelan. The strong affinity the players have with the Club is clearly evident as 12 of their Senior players manage and coach teams in the schoolboys section. who have helped develop and grow this community based Club. Without you we would not have survived. Apologies to those I have definitely failed to mention. On Behalf of the Club we hope that all our football Brethren stay safe in these unprecedented times and we get to meet again across the playing fields of Football soon”.
